first, check the forecast…

Standard

This year, I tried to “build” unique Easter Baskets for the girls. They like holidays. They want me to give a good effort.

We have no activities today (no sports, no dance, no work), so I came up with a great idea of driving to the beach and spending the day there. I also told the kids about my grand plans.

We live about 2 1/2 hours from the nearest ocean. Not a bad drive , but you have to plan ahead when you have 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats (and 4 gerbils). You can’t just pick up and leave.

So, I bought sand shovels, pails for the “Easter Baskets,” sand toys, beach coverups, and flip flops (along with some traditional Easter Candy). I gave a good effort.

What I did not think of doing when I came up with this “bright idea”… was checking the forecast. It’s a bit cold.

You can’t promise 3 kids a trip to the beach and then change your mind because of the temperature. That will not go over well, to say the least.

We are heading down to the beach. We will have fun. We will take great pictures and get sandy and wet. However, the girls may be wearing light jackets over their swimsuits and most likely be shivering.

Next time we get a day off from our normal schedules and I make grand plans, purchase items to be used for said grand plans, and most importantly – tell the kids

I will check the forecast first.
